Ellen Freedman, CLM
Ellen Freedman is Founder and President of Freedman Consulting, which assists Delaware and Lehigh Valley law firms and service-based businesses with management of projects and resolution of problems in technology, finance, compensation, facilities, risk assessment, human resources and benefits, start-up, mergers and strategic alliances, compensation, marketing, strategic planning, and other administrative areas, and in providing computer training ad hoc or in a classroom setting.
Freedman currently serves as the Law Practice Management Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and has done so since 1999. In that capacity she assists PBA's members with management issues and decisions on the business side of their practice. Freedman is also an instructor for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Freedman holds the designation of Certified Legal Manager through the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), the credentialing body for the CLM degree. She was one of the first 20 in the nation to have earned this designation. She holds a Certification in Computer Programming from Maxwell Institute, a Certification in Web Site Design from Temple University, and a B.A. from Temple University, where she also did graduate studies in Criminology.
Ellen previously managed inside law firms for almost twenty years. Most of that time was spent in a mid-size (35+ attorney) firm environment. Prior to that she provided financial and administrative management to financially-troubled corporations.
Freedman has been an active member of the Association of Legal Administrators since 1985. She is an associate member of the American Bar Association and its Law Practice Management and General Practice and Solo Firm Sections.
Freedman is a frequent author and speaker on law firm management issues on a national basis.
